If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen. —Samuel Adams

Well, eventough he's backing reform without private accounts, he still can't let go of the idea of equity pumping:

"This in no way should be interpreted to mean that the president is backing off of personal accounts," White House spokesman Trent Duffy said. "He is not."

Maybe he's backing the reform plans without private accounts because it has a bigger chance of passing while at the same time making people more comfortable with the idea of SS reform. Once the reform train has picked up steam he'll probably give the private accounts plan another try, thinking this time it will have a greater chance of succeeding.
Eh, what's this? A Republican from Texas that actually makes sense and can speak English?

You have a keen sense for american politics.

thats pretty much how it works.....take a little off the top, then a little more, until it is all gone.
