For many the U.K has had a long and sometimes troubled relationship with Europe. At times stemming from the Anglo-phobic attitude of some EU states and also from the nationalistic elements with Britain itself.

Has the farce that was the EU constitution, the collapse of European economies and the ensuing weakness of the Euro led us to a point where we are better off rowing ourselves toward the U.S and retaining closer ties with the Scandinavian economies? Or is this just reactionary politics?

Can Europe ever complete its mission of a U.S.E? and if it can, should Britain be a federalized part the emerging European superpower?
