Iran Sanctions - Will they work?

Presently (April 2010) Barack Obama is trying to line up support for increased sanctions on Iran, so hopefully Iran will not develop nuclear weapons.

Will sanctions work? When have they worked in history?

If sanctions won't work, how soon do you think it will be before Israel will attack Iran's nuclear sites?

Obama is deluded. Sanctions did not work against Saddam and they won't work against Iran.

I can't wait to see the wussie sanctions they do come up with, if any. I'd be willing to bet the Obama liberals big money Iran basically laughs at any new sanctions.

I also predict Israel will attack Iran's nuclear sites at some point in the future. Obama is a wuss. He loves to hear himself talk. He won't push things too far on Iran, even though he said he would not let Iran develop nuclear weapons. So Israel will have to act on its own.

It all reminds me of the U.N. ineptitude.

After the appeasing liberals are done with their seemingly endless, hot-air, wind-jamming sessions at the inept and corrupt U.N. - after clinging desperately to the coat tails of liberal blowhards and Rosie O'Donnell; after all their sophomoric Jane Fonda and Cindy Sheehan surrender rallies and Neville Chamberlain pseudo-peace ploys; and with the bad guys still refusing to budge one iota - they're done. Finis. Game over. That's all there is from the libs, there isn't any more. Not even a lethal dose of Viagra can possibly get them to stand up now. All that’s left for them is to go home, wring their hands, and wait for the WMD’s to come crashing down on their Greenpeace-utopian fantasyland.

    Wussies.

Plain and simply, sanctions will never work and Israel will most assuredly destroy the refineries and any missile plants which exist. I don't know when the attack will occur of course, but I have no doubt that when they realize that no other avenues exist for peaceful negotiations with Iran, Israel will do the only thing available to her in order to insure her national security.

Good idea, let Israel nuke Iran and drag the USA into it, after the bloody mess of Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan it sounds good to me.

Go climb on a parking meter, dweeb.

Read Romans chapter 13, which says the government is an agent of wrath against evildoers (like Iran).

You'd let them get the bomb and nuke Israel and maybe even the U.S. That's how deluded you are.

Brain-dead liberals should be deported along with their long-winded, political leadership.

    Romans 13

it doesn't mention the government of the USA or Iran at all. It doesn't say at all that Israel or the US have the right to nuke Iran.

Love thy enemy brother, do not kill, turn the other cheek be, more like Jesus and less like the Devil. Do as Jesus did.

    Peace brother

    Iran isnt stupid.
They have nuclear processing plants spread around with some next to Islamic holy sites.
If Israel bombs these facilities the Islamic world will explode.
Oil prices will go through the roof and the West will be hit with a tide of siucide bombings.
The US weak economy( and Europe's) will be crippled .
Obama has very little room for manoeuvre.
I suspect that Iran will actually be allowed to develop a bomb.
Unless Sarah Palin becomes commander in chief.
She will nuke 'em after her second day in office

The only thing sanctions will do is bolster support for the ruling regime. That's what they always do, which can then blame its own problems on America.

If they didn't work on Cuba, they won't work on Iran.

Cut all funding to the leech state of Israel and let it deal with its own problems.
He or she who supports a State organized in a military way – whether directly or indirectly – participates in sin. Each man takes part in the sin by contributing to the maintenance of the State by paying taxes.

It depends on what you want them to do Symbiote.
They wont destroy Iran but they have gone some way in stirring up resentment towards the present government.

Sanctions have kept Cuba a very poor state.
If you go to Havana you will see it is full of US wannabees, very poor ones.

I dont think there is much chance of the US abandoning Israel, no matter who was POTUS

Israel has to bomb Iran. Obama is too much of a wussie. If Israel doesn't stop Iran they'll lose Tel Aviv in a nuclear holocaust. They've got to hit the Iranian imbeciles this year, I think. And if it starts a Muslim war then so be it. Israel will wipe the floor with the rest of them too. Then they can build their temple.

I think you'll find most communist states end up poor with or without sanctions.

Sanctions have prevented the people from realising it is their own government, not America, keeping them down.

There's also another prophecy that is unfulfilled to this day: The destruction of Damascus in Isaiah 17.

"See, Damascus will no longer be a city, but will become a heap of ruins..."
