    Lightbulb Polls

Admin, would it be possible to allow the author's of a thread to add polls to the end of their thread for the purpose of conducting a survey of sorts about the thread?

In the absense of moderators, I think this would be very usefull in some debates especially in the challengers corner after a debate/ thread is locked. (or just prior.) That way, the readers themselves could be invited to vote on who they think won the debate.

I realize this would be far from a perfect solution to the absense of moderators. But it give be some indication of how the debate was perceived. Wouldn't it?

I think you can only add polls to the top of your threads.

Yes, I know that's the case currently. But do your setup options include enabling the ability to add a poll at the end?

    That would be so cool!

    Thank you.

As a way of accomplishing the same thing,... Would it be permissable to post a poll and new thread in the "polls section" and refrence a thread in another section?

I knew you would think that, Ian. But this idea goes beyond our 'debate.'

I think (ideally) some sort of real time response (like those used to analyze presidential debates) would be best. An animated graph which track along the points in a debate that shows demographically which points resonate.

Kind of like those that scroll accross the bottom of a screen during presidential debates or the State of the Union address.

I think that the poll results would be fairly predictable. We tend to come down on issues pretty much the same way every time. You've got those on the left and those on the right. I'd bet dollars to donuts that almost every poll would be 2/3 left and 1/3 right which is the general makeup of the forum here.

BTW...I found this other forum called "argue with everyone". OMG, I thought we digress sometimes. That forum allows any language and every conceivable pic and WOW. Its fun to look at but I wouldn't call it a 'debate' forum. More like graffiti.

    Priceless!

I don't disagree, Cunx. In fact, I hesitated posting the thread just because of that likleyhood. But there are new people registering all the time (from what I can tell on the "who's online" page.... and there are many polls already started here where you can see who voted and how they voted. In some cases, you will see a vote registered by someone who didn't say boo in the thread itself.

As for the chaos in the other threads? I know what you mean. You should have seen the ACLU threads back in the day. Though even they limited what you could post in the way of pictures.
