    Dow Jones up 3.32%.

The DJ closed at 7350, up 236 point on the day. Fed Chairman Bernanke's testimony to the Senate Banking Committee was calm and reassuring without painting a rosy picture. As a result most markets responded well.

It will be interesting to see tomorrow's reaction To Obama's presentation to the joint Congress. No doom and gloom please Mr. President, and no campaign speech. Don't listen to your pencil pushing Secretary of the Treasury or your other "expert" economic and political advisors. Speak from the heart, be honest and positive.

The time has come to remember that you are the President of the United States and not the leader of liberals and left wing democrats.

    Obama's speech.

Slightly more positive, but nothing new and confidence inspiring. The Dow has dropped about 200 points in less than one hour. Maybe Bernanke can save the day.

    Anything memorable? Not really.

Anything funny? Yes Nancy Pelosi wildly applauding every sentence.

Anything new? Yes, I didn't know that the automobile was invented in this country.

As they say in the army, I think - SNAFU

Thanks, but no thanks Mr. President

    Somebody, please shut up Obama.

Every time he opens his eloquent mouth the stock markets drop.

Are you familiar with the term "Sucker Rally"?

    Yeah.
I'm sure it had absolutely nothing to do with this...
Economy Shrinks at Faster-Than-Expected 6.2% Pace

And before I get the inevitable, I realize the news report came AFTER the drop.
But the point is that THE DROP ITSELF came before Obama's speech.

All these weeks, people have been feeling the effects of this 6.2% drop.
If you think anybody saw the President's speech and immediately went out and bought stock, you're not seeing things.
I don't know of ANYBODY who did that.
I don't know of ANYBODY who would intelligently do that, cause the recession (can we call it a depression yet) is projected to go on into NEXT YEAR.

Blaming this all on Obama, ignoring the effects of all those weeks of record layoffs and lowered consumer spending?

Beyond showing irrationality, all it really says is how partisan you are...

We needed something positive from Obama, like a widow needs something positive from the pastor at a funeral.
But the widow KNOWS that no matter what the pastor says, her husband is still going in the ground. She sure as heck ain't jumping up after the sermon to go buy him new clothes.

And when you've got an economy that people are saying will be in the toilet until next year? Nobody went out and bought up all the stocks just cause of Obama's speech.

On the up side, the Dow cant keep falling at its current rate for very long....in less than 30 days it would be at zero

And once it hits that level, I'll buy everything for a penny.

I don't know about the rest of you, but lots of folks have made considerable gains since the inauguration.

When has the DOW been an indicator of anything other than the neurosis and psychosis of stock traders?
