I sense growing panic in the white house. Numbers are falling in the military and we may within a year or two have forced military duty pushed on my childern. Is this our second Nam...history will tell.

Any one, right or left, with a functioning brain knows we are up to our armpits in a quagmire in Iraq. We can argue about solution scenarios or the reasons we are there, but there is no denying the situation itself. The people that put us there have admitted that they cannot draw a time line to an exit, and have not denied the possibility of our military presence for another decade - is this not a quagmire? The president will speak to the nation tonight in an effort to prop up sagging support and many will actually believe him, but I am reminded of the words of a Johnny Horton song, "twern't neigh as many as there was a while ago".

That we are to stand by the president, right or wrong is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.

It's not just the left, but also the right...

And yes, it's a quagmire allright. The daily bodycount just keeps getting higher and the living conditions of the average Iraqi are worse than under Saddam.
There's no sign of progress at all, so it's a quagmire.
Eh, what's this? A Republican from Texas that actually makes sense and can speak English?

I think so. Traditionally american forces dont do so well fighting a guerrila war.
There was a demon that lived in the air. They said whoever challenged him would die. Their controls would freeze up, their planes would buffet wildly, and they would disintegrate. The demon lived at Mach 1 on the meter, seven hundred and fifty miles an hour, where the air could no longer move out of the way. He lived behind a barrier through which they said no man could ever pass. They called it the sound barrier.

So quagmire is a liberal concept? What did Donald Rumsfeld just describe in other words? The military leadership as been saying this all along. Fighting the insurgency is a longterm proposition. The only way we can shorten US involvement is to get the Iraqis to take over their own defense against the terrorists. The problem right now is that the would be Iraqis police and armed forces are getting slaughtered before they are fully trained.

What's DENIAL? Gee Dubya would respond with "that's a river in Egypt." We are in a quagmire. Time to get beyond the denial level and ask the real question. How do we extricate ourselves from the quagmire? We need to train Iraqis troops and police outside of Iraq to insure safety. We need to round up all known ex Bath party, Saddam thugs. We need internment camps instead of simply allowing the predators to mingle with their prey. If offering Sunnis Muslims the opportunity to participate in the new government isn't enough, we need to seriously consider dividing Iraq and the Sunnis having their own country.

The same direction is not an option. On-going daily body counts for years should not be an option. We would need to re-establish the draft in a few months. That is not an option.

I watched him and the Generals running the war in Iraq testifying in front of the Armed Services Committee and when Kennedy say the war in Iraq was a quagmire and the Secretary and all the Generals said Kennedy was wrong.......

Where did he say he was a conservative?

Looks like a quagmire to me though: little to no progress and a growing body count.

What's your definition of a quagmire VoR?

Why do you start these polls when you know the answers and you're convinced the board is full of liberals?

Quagmire. Same as Vietnam, different location without China's influence or US conscription. Spreading democracy, etc., etc. instead of the Domino theory.
These are my principles. If you don't like them I have others. ~Groucho Marx~
