In my own case I am a Roman Catholic and my church is very clear on the issue of abortion and gay marriage in that it is wrong and how so called Catholics can support those 2 issues and say they follow the Catholic faith is beyond me.......

I suspect that it will all come out in the wash on judgment day for Christians and Catholics and becasue of my faith I feel sure that I am on the right side of the issues...........................
VoR's own words, "I am a man of faith, but not a devout one". He has admitted that he has made a decision not to follow ALL the precepts he speaks about, yet he can piously label others as "so called Catholics" because they might disagree with his selected ones. There is a word for that - hypocrite.

That we are to stand by the president, right or wrong is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.

That is probably why he supports the direction of the State by the Church. He does not have enough faith in his god's ability to enforce his own laws.
How many socialists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Answer: Why should they have to change it? The government should provide this essential service for free! And anyone opposed to this is opposed to changing light bulbs and advocates that poor people should sit in the dark!

Oh yes, let's defile the consitution so more. So much for the bill of rights.

The entire notion of a state religion is rabidly aganist what the founders wanted. But then again, many people have litterally no concept of history.
Some people love their country because of what it is, because of the principles it is built on, because of its prosperity and freedom. Then others love their country because it is their country, and will destroy all that is actually good about it to silence those who disagree. Which do you think you are? - Symbiote

'Blessed are the peacemakers'. Not to mention the commandment to the rich man to give all his possesions to the poor. What possible basis can you give for Bush being a man of strong faith, apart from his say-so? A man who has no care for the poor but panders to the homophobia of the bible belt isn't a man of strong faith, he's a hypocrite.

Apart from "love your enemy, do good to those who hate you", presumably? I don't think it is as simple as degrees of Christianity. I don't think you can say that someone is more Christian than someone because they follow a different Christian tradition. I don't think you can say that Bush is more Christian than, for example, Jim Thompson (who died last year, alas), former Bishop of Bath and Wells and something of a leftie, or that Pope Benedict is more Christian than Rowan "hairy leftie" Williams, Archbishop of Canterbury. Two may be liberal and two conservative, but it is incorrect to say that one is more Christian than the other simply on that basis. I obviously admire some of those 4 more than others, I'll leave you to guess which ones...

He is against Gay marriage as are the majority of Americans and religions......

He has probably spent more money on the poor then any other president with his prescription drug program and his faith based initiative......

I sense a Bush hater in you....This president could not nothing that would every please you...........

Please, less of the Yoda impressions. And can you not imagine that someone might dislike Bush because of his actions, rather than dislike his actions because they hate him? Bush has pandered to the rich and cut their taxes massively. He plans to abolish inheritance tax. He obviously accepts people who serve Mammon.

I say flag-worship, it'd be too much effort to change the pledge of allegiance otherwise.
He or she who supports a State organized in a military way – whether directly or indirectly – participates in sin. Each man takes part in the sin by contributing to the maintenance of the State by paying taxes.
