Nobody literally forgot 9-11. I was speaking metaphorically, based on the common, but wrong assumption that we want to pull out of the Middle-East.

What conspiracy theory?

There is well documented evidence about how Bush and his cronies wanted an excuse to invade Iraq. Try this article.

It is also a well documented fact that the majority of the terrorists involved in the hijacking were Saudi nationals. Here's an article on that one. Not one of them was from Iraq.

So, don't come out with this BS about there being no evidence. You just don't want to see it.

The war in Iraq was entirely unconnected to the events of 9/11. The only connection was the one that the Bush administration made up and Powell tried to sell (and then later admitted they made it up).

Whether we "started" the "war on terror" (if we are going to pretend that you can declare "war" on a battle tactic) is a stickier question. We did not really perform a military attack on anybody, but we ARE absolutely and without question directly responsible for the death and oppression of literally millions of people in the middle east. The "on terror" is blowback from that.

So, we would argue that we did not start the war, because we never carried out a military attack on our enemies. They would argue that our complicity in the death of so many of their people was an act of war, whether we used our military or not.

Who is right on that count?? Frankly that is a meaningless philosophical question. From a purely practical standpoint it does not matter. From a technical standpoint, there is no war. One nation cannot legally declare war on a broad class of people...they have to declare war on a nation.
