Nurse makes more than many Doctors

"You will say to me then, 'Why does He still find fault? For who resists His will?' On the contrary, who are you, O man, who answers back to God? The thing molded will not say to the molder, "Why did you make me like this," will it? Or does not the potter have a right over the clay, to make from the same lump one vessel for honorable use and another for common use? -Romans 9:19-21 (NASB)

This is what happens when mandatory unpaid furloughs collide with 24/7 civil service functions. Can't just close up the shop several days a month when the shop is a prison.

I know people that I work with, medics and EMT's, that make as much in OT as they do their normal wage. I suspect if there was competition for our jobs, there might be enough part timers available to eliminate this...but at present, there is not. Our shifts only go to OT when the handful of part time staff does not take an opening. Part time staff are pretty much hired when they turn in an application, so long as they prove that they are not dangerous. The problem is, there are not enough providers to fill the ranks. I suspect it is the same with nurses willing to work in prisons.
