Creationism vs. Evolutionism

Hey,I'd like to debate Young Earth Creationism and evolutionism. I'd probably prefer it in the formal open debate section as my schedule is not exactly conducive to the sort of time constraints of a regular formal debate.

I'd argue for Young Earth Creationism.

If you can't win in the regular forum, why bother in the formal?

In that case, I suggest you go for it. You don't need an official opponent for Formal Open

What are your arguments for a young earth?

Ah! I guess I didn't read that clearly - I thought that all debates in formal and in open formal needed to have a challenge. Thanks! I'll work on an opening post and post it today or tomorrow.

I'll start a thread on it in the formal open section soon.

I've seen how atheistevos (including yourself) "debate" around here. You toss around your ad homs and personal insults and ridicule toward creationists and others you don't agree with, and you change the subject quickly when we're onto something. The formal open forum does not allow your ilk to do that.

THAT is why I would bother in the formal.

As a suggestion, how about you and your opponent set it up similar to the past formal debates done here - whatever word limits or time limits you want - only with no judges or moderator (just moderate yourselves) and when you’re done, there could be a new thread with a poll, for readers to vote on who they believe won, (the poll should show the names of who voted which way) and could have their comments too.

The recent presidential /vice presidential debates inspired this idea for me. It seems like it’s always the same story, each side thinks their candidate “won”. A poll showing how each person voted would probably have the same result here, but could still be very interesting.

Thoughts? I'd suggest our usual 5/4 post structure, and try to keep the time and word limits as short as possible to make it more readable.

I'm a deist. If you think that all people who accept evolution are atheists, you are setting yourself up for epic fail. Marc tried that and was completely and utterly destroyed.

Care to cite a single example of that?

Creationists are notorious for doing what you just stated. That tactic even has a name: The Glish Gallop.

Can I point out that your argument for the young earth must be scientific for it to mean anything?

Can I also point out that science is not a democracy?

Nor is "Science" whatever you want it to mean. Unilateral redefining of words is not part of the accepted English language.
